    The Hearing

Sorry I haven't been online since my hearing, I've just plain been lazy.

I suppose the hearing for my Social Security Disability Benefits went okay. It's very low-key; just the Judge, Court Reporter, my Attorney & me. They did have a lady from the Rehabilitation/Occupational Therapy office there. I was asked very few questions, but of course the Judge already had my entire file. It was mostly procedural stuff between him & my Attorney.  The Judge did ask me if I'd been to any rehabilitation/occupational therapy & I told him I had not because I didn't have the money.

My doctor's report to them was that I could not stand more than 20 minutes without having to lay down & prop my feet up higher than my heart & that I could not sit at a desk for more than an hour without needing to lay down flat for at least an hour. So, at one point the judge asked the woman from Rehab/Therapy if she felt these requirements would hinder finding me a job. She told him it absolutely would affect my ability to find gainful employment.

And that was it. Meeting over. Should get the Judge's opinion in 60-90 days. I'm being optimistic & thinking 60 days since I got my hearing about 4 month earlier than the Attorney expected.  After the hearing he told me he thought my chances of a favorable opinion was 80/20.

I catch myself wanting to go look at apartments back in Burleson & getting my furniture out of storage & I want to do it NOW.  Not a good idea yet. So I'm trying not to even think about it, I've turned the decision over to God too & I'm praying he will keep me from sliding back into that dark, evil pit of depression if the Judge's decision goes against me & we have to wait a year for an appeal before a higher court.  I do know God is in charge & He will know what's best for me. He's taught me quite a bit this past year that will always be with me, so I'm trusting Him & praying for the endurance & strength if I get a bad decision from the Judge.

No one who has not lived in this place I call home could begin to understand how badly I want to move. Then again, I truly am thankful that I didn't have to spend the last year at a Homeless Center. Praise God!

Hope all of you are well & I'll be surfing spaces again tomorrow, no doubt!  Also, thanks to those of you who have prayed for me.........I've felt it & you're just a super group of friends! Open-mouthed

    Social Security Disability

So, okay, my Disability hearing before the Judge is tomorrow morning. It's at the Federal Bldg. in downtown Fort Worth & it's been so long since I was there & so much construction was underway the last time, that my usual route was totally blocked. I've mapped it on MapQuest but sometimes their maps aren't all that clear, so I got the driving directions also. I'm scared to death that I'll end up in more construction & be late. Don't think the Judge would appreciate that. If I leave extra early I'll no doubt get to the building an hour early & have to sit & wait. Talk about nerves......mine are a wreck.

Of course, I won't know the Judge's decision for approximately three months, so I fully expect to be a nervous wreck until then. I know it's all in God's hands & the results will be His also. I have plenty of faith in our God, but suppose His decision is that I need more testing before I get my disability funds?  I don't know what He has in store for me, but I'm praying He will touch the Judge's heart so I don't have to wait another year for a hearing in a higher court.  I do know God will see me through & I know that He knows how badly I want to move back to Burleson into an apartment. Maybe I want that too badly.

This is one of those times when even though I know God works all for good, that He has a plan for each of our lives, & that He will always be there no matter what, I'm having a difficult time not worrying about the situation. So, I'm praying hard & clinging to Him regardless of which way it goes.

I hope all of you that read this today will take time to pray about my situation also, not just for tomorrow but also for the next three months while I await the Judge's decision.

    David Letterman on President Bush

No matter what your political convictions are this is an eye opener....What a thankless people we are!!!
David Letterman, on President Bush. (Surprising) David Letterman wrote this; it's the David we don't often see....

'As most of you know I am not a President Bush fan, nor have I ever been, but this is not about Bush, it is about us, as Americans, and it seems to hit the mark.'
'The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some Poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true given the source, right?
    The
Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the President. In essence 2/3 of the citizenry just ain't happy and want a change. So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, 'What are we so unhappy about?'

    A. Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 Days a week?
    B. Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter?

    C. Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job?
    D. Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?
    E. Maybe it is the ability to drive our cars and trucks from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through each state.

    F. Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter?
    G. I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough either.
    H. Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help all and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.
    I. Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home.

    J. You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch equipment to extinguish the flames thus saving you, your family, and your belongings.
    K. Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes, an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss.
    L. This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the residents. Neighborhoods where 90% of teenagers own cell phones and computers.
    M. How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world?
Maybe that is what has 67% of you folks unhappy.

Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S. , yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don't have, and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.

I know, I know. What about the president who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The president who has a measly 31 percent approval rating? Is this the same president who guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11? The president that cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe from terrorist attacks? The commander in chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me?

Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or talk show? Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn't take a look around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad? Think about it......are you upset at the President because he actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the 'Media' told you he was failing to kiss your sorry ungrateful behind every day.

Make no mistake about it. The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country. They didn't have to go. They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ''general'' discharge, an 'other than honorable'' discharge or, worst case scenario, a ''dishonorable' discharge after a few days in the brig. So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of Americans?

Say what you want, but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds it leads and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts. How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner? The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations. They offer what sells, and when criticized, try to defend their actions by 'justifying' them in one way or another. Just ask why they tried to allow a murderer like O.J. Simpson to write a book about how he didn't kill his wife, but if he did he would have done it this way......Insane!

Turn off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as a country. There is exponentially more good than bad. We are among the most blessed people on Earth and should thank God several times a day, or at least be thankful and appreciative.' 'With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, 'Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?' -David Letterman

    When It Rains, It Pours......

.....Especially when my grandson has a football game. The weatherman at noon today said we had a chance of some scattered showers. Uh huh. Naturally, Casey had a game at 5:00 PM & when I left here we were NOT having scattered showers. We were having a diluge! I'm two towns away from where he was playing & by the time I got to the field it had stopped. I took a towel to sit on & my camera. His other grandmother & her husband (my landlords) had left for Tennessee today. Do you think "I" would EVER go anywhere on game day other than to the game? Absolutely not. Unless somebody died & then it would depend on who it was. Or maybe to the hospital if it was me that was ill. However, I remember checking out of the hospital when both my own kids had a game that day & I went from the hospital straight to the field, clutching a pillow against my stomach while I ran the sidelines with 'em. Casey's Dad & soon to be step-mom made it, as did his Papaw & his wife. Even Keri's mom & step-dad were there.  They're all fence huggers, so I usually end up sitting alone.

As soon as the ball was snapped it started raining. Pouring. I was trying to hold the camera up with one hand & my umbrella in the other, but then the couple in front of me opened one of those huge umbrellas so I couldn't see the field. So I stood in the aisle & took pictures. I couldn't get any shots of him from the front, & by then my towel was too wet to sit on so I parked it with his Dad & got out on the track that circles the field. Without my umbrella. In the rain. Only one in the family with a camera. Gotta get those shots for the scrapbook. Hair was a sticky mess. Clothes so wet my jeans probably weighed 15 lbs. alone.

But I got some shots from the front for a change & he was carrying the ball in a couple of them. I hope when I get them off the camera some are good enough to post & don't show the raindrops that kept falling on my lens.

I walked up & down that track like I haven't walked in two years. Just me. Didn't see anyone in the stands with a camera out. Think the kid will appreciate it? Probably not because he's used to me being the only one with pictures.

Now I ask you.....have many other 60 year old grannies in my shape would have stood out there in the pouring rain like an idiot? As far as that goes, how many moms would?  His mom arrived at half-time after the rain had stopped. She didn't bring a camera either.

Was it worth it? Heck yes! He's the only grandchild I'll ever have & he's worth every bit of it to me!

When I got home I logged online & discovered that someone from Australia had signed my Guestbook with 35 different pictures soliciting help for homeless children over there. Then half the songs on my playlist were marked with loading errors, so I had to edit that too.

And furthermore, I'm at a standstill on his scrapbook because I'm ready to start adding football pictures but his mom, & two others assure me they have pictures of him that were taken before football season & they're still promising to get them to me. I'm giving them one more week & that's it.

So, it hasn't been the best afternoon around here & I had to vent. Sorry you're the ones I vented at! Confused

Anyway, I praised God all the way home that I had a car to take me to the game, I didn't dissolve (although I'm sure by morning I will have rusted), and thanked Him that I have a grandson to take pictures of! Tuesday had become my favorite day of the week because I have an excuse to go somewhere.

One quick note.....I'm not so confident about the rest of the Cowboy's season now that the quarterback is out for several weeks, the kicker & two other of the main players are injured. (My sister's going to hate this blog!)

    NASA & The Bible

AWESOME!!!!!   This is probably a little long for some of you...but it is very interesting.
For all the scientists out there, and for all the students who have a hard time convincing these people regarding the truth of the Bible, here's something that shows God's
awesome creation, and that He is still in control.

Did you know that the space program is busy proving that what has been called A 'myth ' in the Bible is true?

Mr. Harold Hill, President of the Curtis Engine Company, in Baltimore, Maryland, and a consultant in the space program, relates the following development:

"I think one of the most amazing things that God has done for us today happened recently to our astronauts and space scientists at Green Belt, Maryland. They were checking
out where the positions of the sun, moon, and planets would be 100 years and 1,000 years from now.. We have to know this so we won't send up a satellite and have it bump
into something later on in its orbits.  We have to lay out the orbits in terms of the life of the satellite and where the planets will be so the whole thing will not bog down.

They ran the computer measurement back and forth over the centuries, and it came to a halt. The computer stopped and put up a red signal, which meant that there was
something wrong with either the information fed into it or with the results as compared to the standards.  They called in the service department to check it out, and they
said, 'What's wrong?'  Well, they found there is a day missing in space in elapsed time.

They scratched their heads and tore their hair out. There was no answer.  Finally, a Christian man on the team said, 'You know, one time I was in Sunday School,  and they
talked about the sun standing still.'  While they didn't believe him, they didn't have an answer either, so they said, 'Show us,'  He got a Bible and went to the book of Joshua
where they found a pretty ridiculous statement for any one with 'common sense.'!  There they found the Lord saying to Joshua, 'Fear them not, I have delivered them into
thy hand;  there shall not a man of them stand before Thee.'  Joshua was concerned because he was surrounded by the enemy! And if darkness fell, they would overpower
them. So Joshua asked the Lord to make the sun stand still!  That's right.. 'The sun stood still and the moon stayed and lasted not to go down about a whole day!'
    (Joshua 10:12-13)

The astronauts and scientists said, 'There is the missing day!' They checked the computers going back into the time it was written and found it was close, but not close
enough. The elapsed time that was missing back in Joshua's day was 23 hours and 20 minutes, not a whole day. They read the Bible, and there it was about [approximately]
a day. These little words in the Bible are important, but they were still in trouble because if you cannot account for 40 minutes, you'll still be in trouble 1000 years from now.

Forty minutes had to be found because it can be multiplied many times over in orbits. As the Christian employee thought about it, he remembered somewhere in the Bible
where it said the sun went BACKWARDS. The scientists told him he was out of his mind, but they got out the Book and read these! words in 2 Kings that told of the following
    story:

Hezekiah, on his death bed, was visited by the prophet Isaiah who told him that he was not going to die. Hezekiah asked for a sign as proof. Isaiah said, 'Do you want the sun
to go ahead 10 degrees?' Hezekiah said, 'It is nothing for the sun to go ahead 10 degrees, but let the shadow return backward 10 degrees. Isaiah spoke to the Lord, and the
Lord brought the shadow ten degrees BACKWARD! Ten degrees is exactly 40 minutes!

Twenty-three hours and 20 minutes in Joshua, plus 40 minutes in Second Kings make the missing day in the universe! Isn't it amazing?"

    (References: Joshua 10:8 and 12-13 and 2 Kings 20:9-11).

If God could do this then, how much more can he do for us today if we only believe in his word?

    Only In America!

Only in  America  - Do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.

Only in America - Do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a diet coke.

Only in America - Do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.

Only in America  - Do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.

Only in America - Do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.

Only in America - Do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering.

    EVER WONDER ...

Why the sun lightens our hair, yet darkens our skin?

Why women can't put on mascara with their mouth closed?

Why don't you ever see the headline 'Psychic Wins Lottery'?

Why is 'abbreviated' such a long word?

Why is it that doctors call what they do 'practice'?

Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?

Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?

Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?

Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food?

Why didn't Noah swat those two mosquitoes?

Why do they sterilize the needle for lethal injections?

You know that indestructible black box that is used on airplanes? Why don't they make the whole plane out of that stuff?!

Why don't sheep shrink when it rains?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress?

If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport the terminal?

Praise God, He's Done It Again

I meant to add this blog last weekend, but the Cowboy game got me all discombobulated. My son finally managed to stop by here last week with my birthday card. (He gets off work 45 minutes after Casey gets out of school which means the kid waits for him at the burger place across the street, which also means Danny is always in a rush.)  Anyhow, we were talking about something and I didn't get around to opening the card until he'd already gone. There was a $100 gift card to Walmart enclosed!

The very next day, along came another envelope and I could tell from the writing it was from my annonymous friend. This time instead of a $100 money order he/she sent me a $100 Visa card, which I liked even better!

God continues to work in and on my life. His blessing keep flowing, especially since I made my apologies to my family for the hurt I caused. That's an important thing to remember if you don't feel like you're "getting thru" to God. Ask Him to bring to your heard anyone or anything that you need to repent of and I already knew this but it had to be pointed out to me yet again. I know God must get tired of having to use different options to pound something into my hard head, but I'm sure glad He finds a way.

    The Kerr Cougars

My sister informed me that she wished I'd blog more because she was tired of reading about the Cowboys over & over.  So this time I'm blogging about my grandson's team, the 8th grade Kerr Cougars.  Last night was the 5th game (I think) and so far this season they have been undefeated! We're talking the "B" team and I'm glad because I've seen the size of the "A" team and Casey would get killed!

I take pictures of every game, but until last night I hadn't managed to get anything really good. Lots of shots of his back or of piles of players where he's on the bottom. I missed his first touchdown of the season because I wasn't even there. Seemed that I could focus on him until the ball snapped, but it was impossible to follow him. Carol, my Spacers buddy told me to enlarge my format (I know zilch about taking good pics), and that sure helped. Last year he played both offense and defense which meant I had twice as many chances to get his picture. This year it's only offense. Last week I tried moving to the other side of the field so the sun wouldn't be in my eyes, but I was down on the track that surrounds the field, standing on a chair (nearly broke my neck getting up there and really hurt one ankle getting down), not to mention all the walking involved. Had to sit for two days with an ice pack on the ankle, so no more of that.  Still had to walk a good deal from my car to the bleachers this week, plus the wind was blowing gale force and most of us froze to death.

At least he made the first touchdown of the game and I was able to get a good shot of him running with the ball. He also made the two point conversion but in that picture he's on the bottom of the pile. Got some fairly good ones of him blocking on the kick-off.

I always make him a new scrapbook for Christmas and I was beginning to worry. They're usually two-thirds full of the football games and things were looking pretty grim this year. Hopefully his other grandmother got some good shots that I didn't.  Oh! Almost forgot. I inadvertantly moved my little wheel on the camera so that I was actually making a film. That won't work for a scrapbook obviously! I called two different places today and neither of them could change the motion to still shots. Finally I stuck my duo stick in the computer & using my Easy Photo Editor was able to fix them myself. For some reason I haven't been able to print pictures on my printer (operator error, no doubt) so I'm looking forward to going to Walmart tomorrow so I can print them. I'm right in the middle of doing his scrapbook and I'd like to get all of the miscellaneous items that requires cleared off my "kitchen" work space so I can use something besides the microwave.

After the game my son, his fiance, her nephew, Casey and I went to grab a burger and I was finally able to dig some extra info out of him that I can use in his scrapbook, like his favorite subject, least favorite, favorite teacher, friends, etc. I usually only get monosyllable answers regardless of the question. Yep, he's at that age!

I wish I could afford to hire a pro to take the pictures so I could enjoy the game, but alas, not possible. At least we got good school pictures this year. Last year they were so bad, Casey didn't even bring the package home!

    God love him.
